Emine Özgören van der Velden (1991) is a photographer and visual storyteller from Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Her work is cinematic, intimate and driven by light. Moving between portraiture, street photography, film, cultural and commercial. She works in both analogue and digital, colour and black and white. Her visual world is shaped by the rhythm of the city, the strength of women and the quiet moments where identity comes into motion. The result is imagery that feels timeless, honest and full of feeling.
Her series Elle, la ville follows Paris from stillness into light, a journey through femininity, ornament and movement. Her first exhibition, Elegance of Her (2024), celebrated the strength of women and welcomed more than 200 visitors. She is a two-time winner of the International Portrait Photo Awards (2023, 2024).
My work is like a still from a film you can’t forget. Light, shadow, and a story that keeps moving.
Her name, Özgören, means “the one who sees the essence” in Turkish, a quiet promise she carries into every frame.
